After 6000 BC, Neolithic settlements started to appear in the Tevoliare plain of southeastern Italy. From that center, they spread north and south along the peninsula,. Then further afield, mostly by sea, along the Mediterranean coast. Unlike LBK folks who were mostly going along river valleys, this was a maritime expansion.
