Do You Really Need a Rest Period?
You're allowed to get out there and move your body, but you don't want to consider it training when you're taking this rest break. So if a six week competitive period is bookended by a two week rest period, then you would go into a two week aerobic base building period. But if you go for only two or three weeks, like a couple races or a binge of high intensity workouts, then you can take let's say a rest period of a week and aerobic period of aweek. And so as we go through these mini cycles of intensity rest aerobic base back to intensity rest aerobatic base, you will finally get to the end of the season where a lengthy rest
