The SEC's Overarching Principle on Fair Disclosure

The SEC's overarching principle is that companies shouldn't be selectively disclosing information to certain investors or certain analysts. There's even this SEC regulation, the FD fair disclosure, which you may have learned about near class. The idea is all investors are on a level playing field, whether it's a very sophisticated institutional investor or sort of a mom and pop investor. Everybody should have access to the same information at the same time.
