The Importance of Negativity in Argentina

I think there is something really remarkable and interesting about the way that the middle class in Buenos Aires in these years immediately following this crisis engaged with the future. And so I mean just looking there for a moment, I thought you know these are these are people living in a social world in which so much had been destroyed right where in which futures had been so radically foreshortened. The question of even how to institute the present was so radically uncertain and anxiety inducing. But at the same time, it was very interesting and sobering to see that for most people, those experiments seem to peter out very quickly. People seem to lose that sense of a more expansive open ended, sad or possibilities
