Christopher Hitchens famously came out in support of the US invasion of Afghanistan and then Iraq. The obvious question is how on earth could this happen? How could someone who's a committed international socialist end up supporting US military aggression? Yeah, how do we go from neither Washington nor Moscow to Washington after all? So this is one of the big questions I was trying to answer in the book.
