He read everything. There's one aspect that he probably got from his secret society, which is the idea of the transmutation of energies into another channel. He learned to practice some kind of transmutation of sexual energy into creative energy and into devotion. It sounds much more like the courtly love tradition that precedes Arthurian romance. And so he is emphasizing and idealizing objectifying woman as the inspiration and source for great achievement.
