The Ghost of Christmas Past
Dickens wrote The Ghost of Christmas Past in six weeks to have it published for Christmas. He missed deadlines once in his entire life, Emily says. It was hugely successful and by the end of 1844 there had been 13 editions. But he only got 230 pounds when he expected a thousand from it because he didn't realise how much he was paying for the production.
