The narcissist sees you as a rival for attention from these people. He has to destroy your reputation so that they do not give you any of the love, admiration or attention he craves all for himself. The weaker type of narcissist may not attempt to manipulate others against you in the same way. Instead of telling hateful, spiteful eyes, they may tell lies designed to make them look like a victim and you look abusive but don't be fooled. This is abuse.
