Governor desparb had served as governor general for less than a month. The second commission then exercised their newly expanded powers and demanded that Desparb immediately resigned the governorship and himself return to france. In his place, the commissioners appointed general rochambeau to temporarily fill the vacant position until a new new governor general was appointed.
