The Importance of a Put Call Ratio
A popular ratio to look at the put call ratio is open interest in puts versus open interest in calls. The assumption there is that puts are bearish, bets, calls, bullish bets. But people don't trade calls and puts that way. implied volatility would probably be a better indicator of investors' anxiety or uncertainty about where the market may be going than the put call ratios.
