The Chinese Response to the Pandemic

Local officials were worried about growth, economic growth, and their own legitimacy. They just really wanted the disease to go away when it first broke out. And not really understanding its severity, they essentially a suppressed the warning signs around it. So i think that's where the contrast is, that the chinese governance is more like running a machine and less like playing the market.
