The most satisfying part of my military career was playing a role in ending that war. I remember going to a Serb village and saying to a group of old men, actually the war is over. We've now come to bring peace. And there's something really moving about when old men cried because they suddenly realized they had hope. It's a sad fact of who we are that bad things happen, evil things happen. At low level, it's someone who chooses to be a bank robber or whatever,. Or whether it's someone, an extreme example, like Nazi Germany did.
