The Role of Charisma in Increasing Productivity Growth

It is possible for politicians to accelerate productivity growth through such means as making labor more expensive. In many respects, that's how capitalism began with contraction of the labor force following the Black Death and rise in wages incentivizing investment in technology. But there does seem to be a role for charisma at times when institutions don't appear to be working very well. The issue is if you have someone who's faking the charisma or someone who's a crazy maniac, then it can go horribly wrong.
