High Frequency Trading 101

High frequency trading is about inventory management at a really fast scale so that prices are as incorporating as much information about supply and demand as possible. The reason I guess people have a negative view towards it is everyone thinks they're sort of like you know being front-run but the thing is it's an extremely competitive game. HFT mindset is closer to the mindset to think of for security and blockchains than statistical arbitrage where you just want to buy Coke or Pepsi because their price goes up, right? You're not actually saying how much you care about the price as much as you're saying these two things are correlated.
