richard had a plan based on his experience building compilers. This is the year two thousand wecapedia didn't exist yet. People with internet were mainly using dial up, and only one % of us households had broadban internet. You couldn't just goggle how to build a data base and get pointed in the right direction. And so i wrote a by code engine that would actually run a query, and then i wrote a compiler that would translate s cl into that bi code.
