David Prasad: It's an interesting contradiction that a lot of Xi Jinping's overall rhetoric is state-oriented and somewhat discouraging to the private sector but then they're determined to grow at a pretty healthy rate. China does seem to want to have it both ways make sure that state sector does deliver in terms of the growth objectives, he says. The political dynamics especially on the US side do suggest that it's going to be a thorny road according to Prasad. He thinks we are in for a period where there could be even more restrictions in terms of trade between the two countries.
