The Origin Story of Herodotus
In the anglophone West, that it comes, ultimately it was born from classical Greece. The seeds of that heritage run through the centuries through Rome and through medieval Western Europe and then out to kind of the Atlantic world of modernity. I think this is what the modern west is now. It's comprised of a whole bunch of people who have different geographic roots and origins. And you know, it's a diasporic west as well. And the Irish are all over the world now. And I think that's part of why we have to rethink the identity of the west in the 21st century because they're no longer at the beginning of their 20th-century power games
