The military regimes in both Brazil and Argentina had a huge impact on the policy changes in these parks. By the late 1950s and 1960s, the people who were advocating for nature protection to be the primary goal of these parks had became the main people in charge at the time. The first National Park proponents died; you have this sort of part of the end shift happening both internationally and in Brazil and Argentina. And you start to see this push to remove all the people from the areas where they lived.
