The Lessons Learned From Husky's Nighttime Missions
A lot of it I think was logistical and timing planning, just based on what it was like flying that far through the weather and through enemy fire to get to your landing zone. One of the key lessons I think from Husky was that nighttime missions were just extraordinarily dangerous so they basically stayed away from overnight runs after Sicily.
