We are in oklahoma during the great depression of the 19 thirties. Dust storms dominated the region due to a combination of severe drought and bad farming techniques. The opening describes wives and children watching their husbands and fathers as they see the dust settle on and then slowly destroy their crops. A man approaches the truck, described as not yet 30, with dark brown eyes and high cheek bones. He wears brand new clothing, including a hat with a brand new brim. Is it all new clothes? When everyon us is covered in dust, why is he werin new clothes?
