In 18 26, an enterprising new jersey farmer decided to cut large blocks of ice out of the lake. He then lid them down the hill to a vessel that was awaiting on the hudson river. Then they sailed that ship all the way down to greenwich village,. The ice was then transferred into a series of darkened storage cellars whi rockland lake ice been stored and sold in greenwich village. tom i'm going to take us now to a place near nyak, new york called rockland lake - not to be confused with tudor's rockwood pond which made my notes la bit of a nightmare early on.
