China and the Oceanic Scramble for Resources

By the 19 seventies, states had made claim to 200 nautical miles of oceanic space from their coast line out into the ocean. China has a very exclusivelyoonecon and so it has a very limited claim on the subsoil of the ocean. So much like japan in the 19 twenties, china has been promoting the going of its distant water fishing fleet into a waters all around the world. It's now the largest distant water fishing fleets by a very large margin. And crucally, very often, this fish is not to be consumed in china. Much like japan, again, it's about a project of creating onshore jobs for export orient production.
