Ruby E. Stevens is a PhD candidate at Macquarie University in Sydney and she is a member of the E-Flower Project. The benefit of flowering plants is not just to keep your local florist in business, it's to keep flowers in business, right? Or at least the plants they're attached to because it does increase that genetic diversity. And that means when conditions change locally in the environment or whatever, if you have a lot of genetic diversity, you're probably going to survive it.
