The guinea pig was the first animal to be domesticated in south america. Lamas and alpacas, two very closely related animals, were also domesticated by the indigenous people of t America. The urasian steps are also interesting for the harnessing of one of the very flighty ungulets which we have managed to domesticate - the horse.
