Scientists can't predict just how squishy a kind of sand is going to be. A physicist at NC State says rounder, smaller grains are squishier. Scientists know why this is because sand is basically like a bunch of little particles moving past each other. But it's really hard to predict when someHardsand will turn into soft Sand.
