Developing That Co-Pilot Is a Leverage Point

We have overconfidence in that first function. The second function, that co-pilot, is what Dr. John Beebe calls the parent function. This is actually a more modest sense of certainty. We feel pretty good about it, but we know there's always more work to do. If people withhold their approval from you, now you might feel really uncomfortable. And so I don't think we'll take as many risks unless they're working in cahoots with other functions.
