The Importance of Finding Fun

We always start from existing knowledge our own existing knowledge and then existing knowledge that we find in the world by looking at what other people have done. It's impossible not to begin with existing knowledge you can't begin by looking at all possible theories because that is simply too large a set to fit into a brain. But then what makes the difference between working on something directly versus working on other stuff that then happens to have the breakthrough as a result? Well one thing is that if you use the criterion of what is the most fun then what you're interested in solving is intimately related to what you find fun.
