SGLT2 inhibitors, essentially, the way I describe it to patients is they trick the kidneys into peeing out sugar. So if you have hyperglycemia, your kidneys can't deal with it anyways, and they end up peeed out sugar anyhow. That's part of why people lose weight and get dehydrated when they havehyperglycemia. But these medications work on... I'm sodium glucose transporters. Transporters, yeah. And they trick them into just peeing out the sugar. Whether you have diabetes or not, it doesn't even matter.
