The Origins of Coffee Houses in the Ottoman Empire
Jonathan morris, how did coffee start to spread west from the ottoman empire. The first record that we really have of coffee in western europe is in venice. It was often merchants themselves who spread it west but they were also property communicating into the rest of europe. How important was it that coffee was non alcoholic? That enabled it to be used in settings such as work practices and negotiations.
