Introduction

The late great cartoonist john glashen, had a penchanp for drawing strange little men with beards. One of them is saying to the others any one can be a success, but it takes real guts to be a failure. How true this is, and yet how strenuously we attempt to deny it. There are indeed plenty of highly successful people who remain racked by self doubt because their worldly attainments don't gibe with their own sense of self worth. This only goes to prove that you don't really need much by way of virtues in order to be a successful person, only the requisite status.
