I've never really understood where the trade imbalancers came from. When Trump ran for office, it got even more confounding to me because people who I think are otherwise quite intelligent fall for this nonsense day in and day out. And a bunch of ridiculous assumptions get made as we wander towards those conclusions. But these are not stupid people making them.
