Is Consciousness Just Inside Our Head?

The word consciousness is used in lots of different ways to talk about raising, consciousness, and so forth. You're referring to something much more specific than that. I think the most basic definition of consciousness is that for a conscious system, there is something it is like to be that organism. If you've ever seen a color or tasted coffee or felt a pain, even without asking any existential questions, you are conscious, you are sentient.
