The Future of Freedom and Liberty
I think similar to 9-11 as a moment of event, not just the shifted the debate in the U.S., I think it shifted the debate globally. The failure here is that the financial crisis was blamed on capitalism, it was blamed on Wall Street and self-interest and greed - nobody stood up against that. And that story about what happened is now universal, everybody accepted,. So even countries that were moving towards more freedom, towards greater economic freedom, have reversed course because we don't want that. It'll turn out to be a major turning point in history; together with 9-11, I think the two events will shape people's attitudes towards freedom and liberty.
