The Psychological Consequences of Violence

In the 1980s and into the 1990s, the idea of being perpetrated of being traumatized by what one did began to emerge. The first iteration of PTSD in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual includes behavior necessary for survival. It's no longer guilt is no longer an associated experience. Shame appears more centrally. So you have this convergence between a feminist politics that is heavily a white movement, but a progressive white movement.
