Some people who were either Nazis themselves or close to the Nazis had actually appealed to Plato and the Republic as a kind of model for what would become national socialism. One aspect of that was surely the eugenics within the Republic, Plato advocates a kind of selective breeding. I think one has to say that he is thinking in those terms. But even without the racism that did give a certain suck or to not see another eugenic ideas.
