The History of Cocktails
Cocktail is an alcoholic drink consisting of a spirit or spirits mixed with other ingredients such as fruit juice or cream. The term cocktail was first recorded in 1798, but the concept of adding tasty things to alcohol has existed for millennia. While the US is probably the country most associated with cocktails, the first cocktail is widely believed to be something called punch, which is thought to have been created by a British soldier in India.
