How Did We Get Here?
We've been doing election calls this way for several decades, although the country has changed how they do that process. Why is it that it's the news media who tends to make these calls? Well, because elections get certified in a much more slow manner. Each state does it differently. And so it's not an immediate kind of decision that gets made. Because of the nature of the news media and our information ecology and our desire to know things now, news organizations inform the public of who is going to win.
