Working With Freelancers

At the Guardian, we were doing stuff and paid mostly at first. Do you think that's changed much or has really things just shifted irrevocably? It hasn't changed a whole lot in my experience because I started out in the late 90s where the web was starting to be a role but we weren't doing graphics specifically for it. What I'm noticing when we do digital first pieces or when we do do interactives, it condenses that deadline schedule quite a bit.
