The best interests of the child actually incorporates shared parenting and equal parental responsibility. The women who you've been speaking to are ambivalent about it, I think it's an improvement but I think they have a wait and see attitude. They're no longer willing to accept on face value that some changes to the law will make a miraculous difference. A lot of them felt and indeed the ex-police officer who now works as a private investigator who worked mostly in domestic violence said that she believes it's the male centric nature of both our police forces and the courts.
