The Taste Map Is a Famous Illusion
We've all seen those pictures of a tongue separated you know sweets on the tip and sours on the back or whatever. Is there any legitimacy to that or are the receptors for the different tastes spread out across the tongue? The two basic tastes that are innately specified as giving us things we like are sweet and umami. Sarnas is actually not so much about detecting it might be about detecting things that are spoiled but it's very much about finding out have you got a taste in your mouth of acid if you have things aren't good with youyou're not in a good state health wise.
