Matthew's Resurrection of the Prophet of the Most High

Matthew paints this really interesting picture for us of John who's a rather strange prophet, right? Of course we already know he's the son of Zachariah the priest and of his wife Elizabeth. You might remember from Luke's gospel all of those events surrounding his birth and how his birth was promised to Zachariah while he was doing temple service. So Matthew doesn't really give us any of the details of John's childhood instead he brings us forward in time right to this moment when John is preparing the way of the Lord. He does do this almost with sort of Old Testament scroll in hand right and he interprets these events as the fulfillment of God's word.
