The gradient has been one of my side projects and something I probably wouldn't have done, you know, if I was starting a company or even working in a harder company. There is a sort of spirit of getting to explore and to pursue your own opportunities - which is generally useful as a philosophy. And that's kind of a nice thing with PhD. You can, you can start it and then get a lot of experience, so to speak, unique and then go in various directions.
