Can the Fed Just Be Patient?
The Fed should be squeezing, squeezing, squeezing until we get to 2. And another option will be revise the mandate. I've long been a supporter of the position argued by people like Blanchard and Olivier Blanchard. It's not just the averages are failing to move, but the averages are made out of components which aren't moving in line with each other. The question there is, what can these firms do if they're doing badly?
