The Importance of Humility in the Economy
Sally Kohn: Much of the story that you can tell about 2010 through 2009 through 2016, probably is just a story of an economy that is below what its level of aggregate demand should be. She says we were living for decades under this umbrella of Bretton Woods institutions and people who would dedicate their lives to creating an interconnected global economy where that could never happen again. And without those institutions, she says, the world became much more brittle and much more prone to exogenous shocks. Kohn: The big geopolitical consensus that kept the world relatively calm for so long has completely disappeared. There's no way we're going to go another 100 years without a pandemic or Russia invading Ukraine.
