Asa protection trusts are incredible tools because they allow you to create a self settled spendthrift trust. The concept was first memorialized in the 19 84 cook island trust statute. It's pretty darned near impossible to break into a foreign ascid protection trust. While it's not just to keep your assets off shore, i tell clients they really need to budget around ten thousand dollars per year for an asa protection trust.
