Ovid writes nine books of short ar poetic letters, largely a so five books called the tristia or sad poems. And then four epistoli ex ponteau, or letters from the black sea, and also a strange curse poem called the ibis a. The persona he adopts is in a lot of ways more realistic. He suddenly presents himself as a perfectly ordinary, respectable roman of a certain class. But i think that's also a bit problematic, because there's something very kind of lavel ic about writing from a position of being separated from where you want to be and who you're with.
