The Hypocrite of Jefferson's Louisiana Purchase
LZ Granderson: It's popular now to talk about Jefferson as being a hypocrite. He says the president who made this purchase is same guy who was so insistent on restricted federal power. LZ: But I have to say that Jefferson would have been a hypocrite also had he let the opportunity to purchase Louisiana pass. The U.S. could instead expand across space and sort of press pause and maintain our American character, writes LZ.
