The Refugial Metaphor
i'm particularly interested in the implications of these metaphors for how we understand our role in the world. god's preferred way seems to be less like walls or combat boots, more like a tray of seedlings. Refugia is all about seeing places where life is already persisting in healthy ways. And by life, i mean cultural and spiritual life as well as actual biological life. There are so many people who are wandering in the wilderness - can we be the place where good things grow?
