Globalization and Openness Are the Canary in the Coal Mine

When we see these kinds of shifts in an authoritarian direction towards more of status and populism, the one thing they really dislike is openness. And that's something that they don't like. The picture for globalization is actually remarkably similar to what Ian just said about human freedom generally.
