The Motown Sound
The Jackson 5's early catalog was written by a group of in-house Motown songwriters who called themselves the corporation. The label prided itself on a kind of sonic consistency known as the Motown Sound. By the late 60s and early 70s, popular music had started to evolve with songs that had an overtly political message.
